South City is a label and media trusted recording studio with releases on major labels such as Warner Music. Our releases have won awards for our artists and had plays on National radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, Radio X, XS Manchester and many more.

We are a hybrid recording studio that combines the convenience of a digital workflow with the classic analogue sound of vintage hardware.Our DAW is Pro Tools Ultimate which gives you 2,048 audio tracks and our AD DA conversion is parallel to the biggest studios in the industry.

We have a treated air conditioned control room, with 3 stage monitoring. Each monitoring setup has been tuned to the room to ensure your mix translates to any speaker system outside of the studio.

We love mics and have a comprehensive microphone collection. Our large live room provides a well lit and vibey space. We have acoustic exciters on the walls which can be used or baffled.

Artist Recording

Bands and artists have 21 high end analogue inputs to capture their performance. Large live room fitted with acoustic exciters. Drums sound as big or as contained as you like. Guitars, guitar amps, drums and bass amp all available for use. 2,048 audio tracks at your disposal on our pro tools rig.

Producing

This is for solo artists who have a song but want to build on it in the studio. This may involve acoustic drum programming, real drum tracking and other instruments being added to the song to produce the end product.

Pre-production

Pre-production services is for bands and artists who want to do a 'dummy run' of an album or extended single release. Your label/management may use a studio in a different region and you want to make sure you know the direction you want to take; what parts to record and where. This is so you know what will work and what will not.

Mixing

If you have tracked your record at home or at another studio, you can submit your session to us for a professional mix. We will use our analogue EQ circuits and external hardware to bring your session to life! Providing a clean and punchy sound using the best names in vintage hardware.

Mastering

We use a combination of hardware and software for compressing and limiting the mix. Slight EQ may or may not be added. This gives the mix energy and life, whilst making it louder so your mix stands proudly among mainstream releases on Spotify.

Podcasts

We have a beautifully lit space in our live room, perfect for podcasts in a creative environment. We can set the scene for your podcasts. Full audio recording and engineer provided.

We bring the studio to you!
We can record in any location you desire. Perfect for live gigs, special events, performances, speeches and choirs that will be mixed and mastered on a later date.

Artist Development

South City MCR and South City Studios have collaborated with Brand Your Band to bring you a subscription service, where you will receive a day recording each month, 6 hours of rehearsals a week, live industry masterclasses, showcase events, and use of production spaces.
